℗ PRESTON HIRE Racing Welcomes Fraser Ross (Fraser Ross racing)
℗ PRESTON HIRE Racing welcomes Fraser Ross (Fraser Ross Racing) to the team.
Facts about Fraser Ross;
Fraser Ross was shown the light at the age of 10, his entry into the world of Motorsport that would ignite the spark and fire the engine of passion, for his love of racing and all things affiliated. Ross began racing Karts at club level and excelled rapidly, often winning club days at his various clubs, Oakleigh, Geelong and Go-Kart Club Victoria (Todd Road). He slowly moved through the classes and began to travel around the state of Victoria to the various tracks to compete in various classes (Rookies, Clubman, Leopard and Formula 100). Success was had and race craft was beginning to form (his greatest asset to date) and it came a time when the step up needed to occur.
R-Code. R-Code was Frasers stepping stone out of the karting world and into the world of Motor Racing. R-Code is a complete nut and bolt replica (with many original and hard to come-by parts) of the very successful 1965 Shelby GT350 R, B Production Race car. R-Code was built by Frasers father (Ian Ross- a very successful historic racer in his own right). R-Code was lent to Fraser to transfer his learnings from Go-Karting to the real race track, where here Fraser would drive Regularity events and prove to be extremely fast in a car that even when compared to much more advanced cars was just as quick, Fraser could seriously drive!
Next came along the 1968 Drew Marget/ Jim Richards Ford Mustang. This car had proven to be in the past an absolute weapon. That it still is. Frasers entry into the Historic Touring Car World was very level headed. He never tried to show anyone up, never tried to ruin anyone's weekend- he showed the makings of a proper racer, a racer who showed respect for all of his competitors and a racer who could excel on the track.
Fraser began his Historic Touring Car career at Phillip Island Historics 2010 (the biggest historic car race in the Southern Hemisphere), the car showed a few teething issues, yet once sorted Fraser made himself known. Frasers success quickly grew as he became a part of the car, race wins and round wins were now common and the season culminated in multiple club and state wins and awards in his rookie year.
