In a fundraising initiative for Cystic Fibrosis Australia (CFA), Preston Hire is painting one of its SuperDeck™ loading platforms with CFA’s rose symbol and will be donating $5,000 from the platform’s hire (February to November 2015) to help those affected by Cystic Fibrosis (CF). The company will also match dollar-for-dollar (up to $5,000) of any contributions made to CFA by any Preston Hire customers during that period.
“This is a very personal commitment for Preston Hire as Toby, the four-year-old nephew of our Managing Director, Markus Preston, has been battling this illness every day of his young life,” Preston Hire’s General Manager, David Serg, said. “The loading platform will also carry Toby’s name, in tribute to this brave little boy and all those affected by CF, so we are hoping those who see it will be reminded of what it means and kindly donate to CFA themselves.”
Cystic Fibrosis is the most common life-threatening genetic condition in Australia. Currently incurable, the condition affects many of the body’s systems, including lungs and digestion, leading to lifelong medical treatments and physiotherapy and too often resulting in early death from lung failure.
Cystic Fibrosis Australia, a not-for-profit organisation and the national body supporting people with CF and their families, plays a huge role in research, education and advocacy and organises national fundraising campaigns such as ‘65 Roses’ to raise awareness of CF and help improve the quality of life of people living with the condition.
“Thankfully CF is no longer the childhood disease of years past where most children didn’t survive their teen years,” David said. “But life expectancy for people with CF is still less than 40 years; there is much more work to be done and money is needed to fund it, so we are pleased to be supporting CFA.”
Preston Hire developed and patented the SuperDeck™ in 1997. A cantilevered retractable crane loading platform system designed to simplify materials handling efficiencies for multi-storey and high-rise construction sites, Preston Hire currently supplies SuperDeck™ in 2.2m, 2.6m, 3.2m, 3.4m and 4.2m versions; the CFA loading platform will be a 4.2m version.
“We think it’s only appropriate that our SuperDeck™, which holds heavy loads, is being used to support an organisation working to lighten the heavy burden endured by those living with CF,” David concluded.
“We hope our customers will help ensure the CFA loading platform is fully booked throughout 2015 and join us in supporting CFA in improving outcomes for people living with CF.”
