PRESTON HIRE RACING VIP KART ENTERS TEKA NEWCASTLE ROUND
Preston Hire are big supporters of motorsport at all levels – from grassroots karting to our sponsorship of Preston Hire Racing in the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship.
We love all levels of racing. The passion, comradery, competition and talent that is alive and well on the race track no matter the location is what our business likes to foster.
We are proud to announce that we are bringing together all levels of experience and expertise in one epic race that will take place in Newcastle on
Sunday 12th August.
Preston Hire Racing is excited to register a VIP Kart to compete in Round 5 of the TEKA Endurance Karting Championship in NSW.
Representing Preston Hire Racing, Kart 99 will be driven by Lee Holdsworth, Charlie Schwerkolt and Justin Ruggier who can’t wait to hit the track as a team to watch out for!
“I love karting!” said Holdsworth. “It is the purest form of Motorsport. The best drivers will rise to the top and the competition is second to none.” Holdsworth was thrilled to commit to the karting race in Newcastle pleased that it falls between the Red Rooster Sydney SuperNight race at Sydney Motorsport Park and new track, OTR SuperSprint The Bend, in South Australia. It is a busy time of the year for Supercars teams and drivers so we are delighted Lee will be part of the team and is able to enjoy the weekend with Preston Hire and the TEKA crew.
“It has to be the most fun you can have on four wheels! I can’t wait.”
Alongside Holdsworth will be Preston Hire Racing Team Owner Charlie Schwerkolt. Charlie was a member of the Oakley Victoria Go-kart Club throughout the 80s and early 90s with most of his racing in a Clubman Light running a Dap Kart with some Read light races. After many years managing and owning Supercars teams, rather than being the man behind the wheel, Charlie made his return to the track in 2017 at the TEKA Eastern Creek round and loved the experience. He was surprised by the level of competition and still questions the penalty he was handed for “reckless driving”!!! He will be a driver with a reputation to uphold!
The third member of the team, Justin Ruggier, is no stranger to the TEKA Endurance Karting Series having been involved since 2007. “I’ve had many great battles with various talented drivers and look forward to teaming up with Lee and Charlie in a few weeks time.” Ruggier was Runner up in the 2014 TEKA Championship, Australian Champion in 2015 and is known to effortlessly smash out lap records, secure pole position or take his team from last to podium throughout a stint. You may have also seen Ruggier more recently fiercely competing in the Aussie Racing Cars Series in his Black and Gold vehicle where he was Round winner of the Coates Hire Ipswich SuperSprint round after a mega battle in Race 4 on Sunday. He compliments the team perfectly and is focused on getting “kart fit!”
Kart 99 will be the 4th kart in the Preston Hire Racing karting team, accompanying Karts 18, 81 and 15 who are regular competitors at each race throughout the year.
We look forward to a great event and encourage all teams to enter and come along for a weekend of fun, solid competition and good banter.
