Preston Hire Racing’s Lee Holdsworth has fought against a series of car issues and race clashes to conclude the Sydney 500 as the final round of the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship over the weekend.

Struggling with car pace in Practice sessions and Qualifying P23, Lee Holdsworth began the race in P22 following penalties from other drivers.
On the opening lap, Holdsworth was caught in a sandwich after being slammed by two cars and the steering was badly bent.
Holdsworth managed to climb 6 positions with damage in the 250km Race and concluded the Race in P16.

Race 29 – Position 15
Still struggling with car pace in Sunday’s Qualifying session, Holdsworth began Race 29 in P22.
Again receiving contact on the opening lap, Holdsworth was smashed into at the rear and was forced to hit the car in front.
The smash meant that Holdsworth had to Race 73 laps with overheating brakes due to brake ducts covered over after the incident, but still managed to better Saturday’s result and farewell the Sydney 500 in P15.
