Many of our branches have been making concerted efforts to separate their plastic bottles from general waste – a fantastic start to all of us making a difference to our environment.
Drink container litter makes up to 44% of all litter volume in some states – so every bottle that is collected and correctly recycled goes a long way in our war against waste.
Each state has a different recycling scheme. Many states are introducing Return and Earn programs with collection points being established to make the process even easier.
Below are details of each states programs. Please take a moment to check details of your state:
NSW
Return and Earn Program

NSW’s Return and Earn program commenced on 1st December 2017. This site details accepted bottles, collection stations and how much you can earn per bottle.
VIC
There are currently no official redemption programs in Victoria, however we encourage PHV to continue to use their recycling bin for plastics and paper.
QLD
Containers for Change

QLD has come onboard with a collection scheme commencing on 1st November 2018. This is a great initiative for the state with more than 230 redemption points that will be ready for operation.Check the link for full details.
SA
SA Collection Depots

SA has long encouraged container recycling. As a reminder of Collection depots, see link with details.
WA
Recycle Right
https://recycleright.wa.gov.au/
WA continues to educate residents on which bins to use to maximise recycling efforts. At this time no redemption program has been established.
NZ
There is currently no official redemption scheme in NZ however continued callouts to introduce a program suggest it is being considered.
Everyone can do their part so please think twice before throwing drink litter in the bin!
